4:cast Awards 2014 – Nominations

It is difficult to believe that it has been a year since the last set of nominations rolled around or that it has been nearly 7 months since the 2013 awards were held.

Let me first say a huge “thank-you” to everyone that has supported the awards in one way or another. From the people that post nominations and cast votes to those that invest their own time and money into making the awards a success year after year. The 2013 awards were extremely well attended, filling the venue in the Omni hotel in Austin, TX.

Once again we are planning on hosting the awards at the SANS Forensic Summit in 2014. If you have not attended a SANS event or training before please make it your goal to attend this year. The presentations and the classes are of the highest quality and I guarantee that you will learn something new from the excellent SANS instructors.

That being said, the nominations for the 2014 awards are open.

Who has written or created something that has helped to forward the field? What new artifact has been discovered that has helped you in your investigations? Each of the people/organizations responsible, in my humble opinion, deserve some recognition for their hard work and perseverance. That is the whole purpose of these awards, to recognize the deserving parties, and to encourage others to step up and contribute to the field. We are only able to do the work we do because of those that spend their time reverse engineering things, writing scripts, and sharing their knowledge. To quote John of Salisbury:

We are like dwarfs sitting on the shoulders of giants. We see more, and things that are more distant, than they did, not because our sight is superior or because we are taller than they, but because they raise us up, and by their great stature add to ours.

Please click on the link below to post your nominations. Remember you can nominate multiple times but please only nominate for work conducted from January 1 2013 onwards.
